And Mario was born

I am by no means into video games, but this t-shirt design by Kevin Tong is pretty funny. It covers the creation of Mario in a DaVinci-esque drawing style, even directly copying some of DaVinci's more famous sketches. Pretty funny

Cutouts are pretty cool right?

Yuken Teruya cuts trees out of everyday paper objects, and they turn out pretty amazing.

Kids love blocks, why do we stop loving blocks?

Jan Vormann, a dude from Berlin had a pretty good idea. Why not repair brick walls with colored bricks? Entitled Dispatchwork, this project rules, and looks great. I am not sure if he does it secretly or not, but if that's the case, it's even better.
Thanks Visualingual

Ryan Mcginness exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum: don't miss it

No two ways Ryan Mcginness is a badass. His work definitely bridges the gap between fine art and design, and it is absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to just stumble across his exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum the other week. It was the third time I had seen some of his work in person, and I love it every time. Hurry up and get there because the exhibit closes on Feb. 15

British stuff: Evening Tweed= awesome

While I was in New York I met this lot of British designers/illustrators that were all awesome. Super nice bunch that were all super talented. Sarah and Owen were two of them, and they are part of a little collective called Evening Tweed:
Above is a banana that Sarah wrote on. It is pretty damn cool.
This is an illustration for a t-shirt Owen designed. I like the wild iso grid.

My sister Leah can paint pretty well

This is one my sister's paintings she has been working on for a while. She is an amazing painter and super cool for letting me stay with her in New York for 3 months. By the way, this painting is huge!
It's nice being part of a family of makers. Pretty fun...

VROOM VROOM! crunch crunch crunch

Tilt-shift is one of the greatest things ever. Filming a monster truck rally and demolition derby could be one of the greatest ways of putting it to use. Watch this...it is funny.

"The first sideways stackable chair ever"

Christian Flint's rainbow chair is absolutely awesome. The idea of having a chair that is designed not only with stacking in mind, but what the stack actually looks like is pretty sweet. It also looks like when it's stacked it could maybe be used as a bench...good work Christian.

I am all for things that originated in digital going to analog and this pushes it to a whole new level

I saw this quite some time ago but was reminded of it just the other night. The music and sound effects are the best.

I think bathroom humor is just as funny as the next guy...(probably more so) but for some reason this inflatable put grosses me out big time

Apparently Paul McCarthy's giant inflatable poop sculpture in Switzerland broke loose and reeked havok around town before settling on the grounds of a children's home. During all the pandemonium it managed to down power lines and break a window, as well as scare the...well, ya know, out of quite a few people.

Sharpie Lambo is C-R-I-S-P-Y Crispy

This is a Lamborghini done up in with Sharpie markers and it is pretty sweet looking.

This is Stephen Winkelmann, the president and CEO of Lamborghini standing with Sharpie Lambo, and he makes me laugh. Peep his kicks

So this stuff came from the future...I am not sure if we should be messing with it or not

I saw sculpture that used ferro fluids when I was probably a junior in high school and I thought it was awesome. You may think it's awesome too. It is a solution made up of iron dust suspended in oil, and it reacts to magnetic fields in pretty crazy ways. Check out the video, and make sure you search around YouTube for more crazy videos of it.

Nothing says peace like knit guns

I am about 4 years two late on this, but Jess Stephens had a pretty cool thing goin' with "Knit for Peace." Essentially a bunch of people from around the world knit guns to speak out against firearms. Knit objects are funny looking, and guns are bad, so I dig.

Why hello friend, you are awefully funny looking

Faces in Places is quite possibly my favorite collection of photographs that I have ever stumbled across. What could be better than a website full of photos of funny faces found in everyday life?..I know, nothing.

Heatherwick Studio does does some pretty amazing stuff

Thomas Heatherwick and the Heatherwick Studio out of London have produced some pretty amazing work since they started up in 1994. Check out this sculpture designed to fill an 80 story space. The over all form was determined by pouring molten metal into water hundreds of times until they got the form they wanted. Then the form was scaled up and made out of 142,000 glass spheres suspended on 27,000 steel wires. Pretty good if I do say so myself.

Skateboarding added to the Olympics?

No, not really, but this is the way they should do it. Let's have a throwback Olympics with the sports of now. Maybe take those sports and give them an old world flare. I would be all about watching even the most seasoned skateboarders actually try and ride this thing.

Thanks for givng me a funny product to look at Greece is for Lovers

BMW 3d sphere thing

I am a huge fan of taking digital data and displaying it in an analog fashion. This installation at the BMW museum does just that. It's like some crazy 3d television thing.

Edward Burtynsky and Manufactured Landscapes

Edward Burtynsky takes amazing photos he uses to illustrate the impact of man on the world. Whether its a photo of a massive factory in china, or a massive open pit mine in the States, his photos always seem to do the job that he wants them to.
