Coke can be used to save lives: i knew it was good for something besides just being delicious

EVERYONE...go here and join the facebook group setup by Simon Berry to encourage Coca-Cola to help save lives of children in Africa. The distribution outreach of Coke is huge, able to reach almost everyone in the world. Meanwhile there are children in Africa dying from dehydration. Berry proposes to use Coke's distribution channels to help distribute Rehydration salts to these people in need...pretty awesome.

I dig this dude's style: Al Gore challenges U.S. to be carbon free by 2018

Al Gore has been stepping his game up recently, and he has just recently given the people of the U.S. quite the challenge. I think it's awesome that he is actually asking for us to accomplish something major, rather than the old 35 m.p.g.'s by 2020 or whatever. Good for you Mr. Gore.

Valcent does super neato stuff

I have been a fan of the things Valcent has been doing ever since I first heard about them. I am fascinated with their High Density Vertical Bioreactor, which they are using to grow algae which will potentially yield huge amounts of biodieself for very little money or resources. But I hadn't heard much about their High Density Vertical growth system (pictured above.) They are experimenting with growing certain types of produce in a vertical format, and have discovered that they can yield huge amounts of produce with very little land, and using far less water than used in normal agriculture.

Make sure to check them out here: Valcent

I love bikes, and this guy hates them

Edward Burtynsky and Manufactured Landscapes

Edward Burtynsky takes amazing photos he uses to illustrate the impact of man on the world. Whether its a photo of a massive factory in china, or a massive open pit mine in the States, his photos always seem to do the job that he wants them to.
